Uniting Friends Radio (UF Radio) is an inclusive, members online radio station with a mission to inform and entertain everybody, everywhere at anytime! It is also an important platform for our members to express their opinions and promote the view points and opinions of the disabled community.
It all began in 1996 with a befriending service at The Harvester Beehive, The Red House, and The Dick Turpin pubs. We’ve certainly come a long way since then, growing into one of the most inclusive, friendly, user-led organisations around. The UF Radio crew is back with a brand-new show for spring! This new-style magazine chat show features a roundup of the latest updates, along with your views on the brand-new listing of Out There! – Evenings (OTE) activities coming your way. We also asked for your opinions on President Trump, how you would spend a million pounds if you had it, and the topics you want to discuss on future shows. This month we focused on what the members love about the radio shows they listen to. We also explored what could be done to encourage more listeners to our own show. As usual the ideas flowed! Suggestions included inviting our Groovy Cat Club, and creating merchandise. We also discussed how we could promote the show more widely, invite interesting speakers onto the show and stream a show on YouTube. What do you think? This month, we talked about the upcoming UK General Election 2024. We discussed our members' worries and what they want politicians to do. Many are scared of knife crime, especially after a recent tragedy where a young boy died. We feel politicians aren't talking about this enough. We also talked about the economy, drug problems, service levels for people with learning disabilities, and homelessness. Oh, and we mustn’t forget – plus our usual great playlist! Enjoy! Read more
Save the date - July 17th 2024! Our Disability Festival is coming to town! Festival in the Park is an event that Uniting Friends is leading with other providers. We’ll be hitting Christchurch Green in Wanstead this summer. We asked the UF Radio crew to help build it like their dream event.
